Third well comes online at Brazilian oil field

PRIO has opened the taps at the third producing well at the Wahoo field, where production has stabilized at 10,000 barrels of oil per day. This comes after the firm brought on stream the first producing well followed by the second one after the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Natural Renewable Resources (Ibama) granted the operating license.

Prior to this, the company secured the approval for the installation of the field production development system and the interconnection of wells to the FPSO Valente, formerly known as Frade.

PRIO reduced the flow rate of the wells, keeping the Wahoo field’s production to 32,000 barrels of oil per day with three producing wells.

Once it brings online the fourth well, scheduled for the end of April, the company intends to limit the field’s production to 40,000 barrels of oil per day.

The Brazilian firm recently received from Ibama an amendment to the drilling license for the Frade field, authorizing the company to drill up to 14 new wells.
