Rotech Wins Major HVDC Submarine Cable Scope in South Korea

Rotech Subsea has secured a significant subsea cable support contract in South Korea, further strengthening the company’s position in one of Asia’s key offshore energy markets.

The award will see Rotech utilise its RS1LD-3 Hybrid Jet Trencher to support a major HVDC submarine cable construction project, delivering specialist subsea excavation and trenching services as part of the critical offshore scope.

The award builds on the company’s established international track record and continued activity across key offshore energy markets. Its Controlled Flow Excavation (CFE) technology provides a non-contact approach to seabed intervention, enabling precise excavation while reducing seabed disturbance and protecting surrounding subsea assets.

Stephen Cochrane, Rotech’s Director of Subsea, commented:

“Rotech Subsea will bring decades of offshore trenching experience to South Korea. Over the years, our engineering team has continually developed tailored non-contact CFE solutions, enabling us to offer a wide range of configurations to suit different soil conditions, water depths, trenching speeds and trench depth requirements.

This award is another great achievement for the business. We have built on the experience gained during our MFE days and our first offshore renewables project at Robin Rigg in 2008, continually investing in our technology, facilities and our team.

This project win marks another important step in Rotech’s growth across Asia, building on our established presence in Taiwan since 2019. In 2015, we made a commitment to the global offshore renewables sector and have continued to invest, innovate and plan for its future ever since. We remain focused on bringing our knowledge,

engineering expertise and innovation to clients worldwide, with the ambition of delivering more than 1,000 offshore projects. It is a feat that no other offshore non-contact excavation business can or is likely to match!”
