Well Academy has enjoyed a strong start to 2026 in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region, securing a series of contract awards for specialist technical training valued at over £500,000.
The contract awards wins will see delivery of specialist training programmes in Aberdeen, Apeldoorn, Stavanger and Milan, as well as at an associate centre in Mozambique. Well Academy is also experiencing increased demand for International Well Control Forum (IWCF) accredited Drilling Well Control and Well Intervention Pressure Control training, resulting in additional course dates being added to the schedule.
Specialist rig equipment training will be delivered for a client in Milan, where attendees will develop an understanding of rig equipment functionality, maintenance requirements and compliance considerations. The Rig Inspection Workshop, which is accredited as Drilling Industry Training by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), will focus on offshore drilling rigs. A similar rig equipment course is also planned in Stavanger and will include coverage of relevant Norwegian regulatory requirements, including Havtil and NORSOK standards.
In Mozambique, Well Academy trainers are scheduled to deliver IWCF Well Intervention Pressure Control and Drilling Well Control training for land-based operations at an associate centre. This programme is latest in a series of courses delivered for the client, with Well Academy having supported the development of its drilling and wells teams for more than eight years.
Strong demand for IWCF Well Control in Design and Lifecycle Management training (formerly known as Level 5) has resulted in several courses being fully booked, including one dedicated programme for a UK North Sea operator. The course is recommended for experienced personnel with key responsibilities in well design and planning for well operations.
Early 2026 also marked the relaunch of the Subsea Engineer Programme (SEP), delivered in Apeldoorn. The three-module programme was last delivered in 2012 and has been updated for modern blow out preventer (BOP) and well control equipment. The SEP is well regarded in the industry by subsea engineers looking to develop their technical knowledge and support career progression.
Mark Watson, Regional Director with Well Academy, said: “Our team brings deep technical expertise across a wide range of specialist training, from rig equipment and complex subsea BOP systems to IWCF accredited well control programmes for drilling and wells professionals. This capability is further strengthened through access to specialist insight from our sister company ModuSpec, allowing us to deliver training that reflects real-world operational challenges and supports client requirements.”
