Var Energi granted Barents Sea drilling permit

Var Energi AS has been granted a permit by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill in Barents Sea production license 901.

Well 7122/6-3 S—the first exploration well to be drilled in the license—will be drilled from the Scarabeo 8 rig about 30 km northeast of Goliat field and about 13 km south of discovery well 7122/6-1 at water depth of 427 m after concluding drilling of development wells on Goliat field for Var Energi.

Var Energi AS is operator with 50% ownership interest. Partners are Longboat Energi AS (20%), Concedo AS (20%), and Equinor Energy AS (10%).

The area in the license consists of parts of Blocks 7122/5, 7122/6, and 7123/4.
