MacArtney has appointed Paul McCafferty as Chief Commercial Officer as part of its executive management team, marking a strategic step in the company’s continued development as a global provider of underwater technology and services, with a clear focus on creating customer value and advancing commercial development across its global organisation.
Paul brings over thirty years of commercial leadership experience from international energy and subsea sectors. His background covers global business development, large-scale projects, and long-term customer partnerships, with a proven track record of strengthening sales performance and commercial execution. Before joining MacArtney, Paul held senior commercial and leadership roles at companies including Boskalis, Strohm, and TechnipFMC, with experience across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australia.
“Paul McCafferty possesses the depth of commercial experience that complements MacArtney’s direction and the markets we serve. He understands the segments where we are already strong and has the experience to support the next stage of our growth across marine and offshore, ocean science and naval. His appointment enhances our ability to translate capabilities into customer value and lasting partnerships, building on the reliable expertise and global support that define MacArtney,” says CEO Niels Peter Christiansen.
A shared focus on customer environments and application understanding
For Paul, the timing and context of the role were key factors in his decision to join the company. He describes MacArtney as an established market leader in connectivity and underwater technology, with a clear understanding of the applications it supports, particularly its ability to simplify complex solutions and deliver customer results directly. The company’s growth aspirations were clearly aligned with Paul’s successful track record of delivering strategic revenue growth and increasing market share, and therefore, the combination was strategically a good fit.
“MacArtney are a market leader in connectivity and underwater technology and enjoy an enviable position where they combine strong products and trusted customer relationships. Whilst technical excellence is essential, the ability to understand customer needs, support operations and build lasting partnerships ultimately enables sustainable global growth. This balance between capability and customer relationships is a clear strength I see in MacArtney, and one I look forward to building on,” says Chief Commercial Officer, Paul McCafferty.
Building on an established global approach
Many customers value local representation and insight for day-to-day collaboration and support, and Paul highlights the importance of combining this with the consistency of a global organisation. For MacArtney, this means enabling customers to benefit from common processes and ways of working across regions, thereby reducing complexity when specifying, integrating, and deploying solutions across projects globally.
MacArtney’s customers rely on uninterrupted data acquisition, dependable connectivity and consistent performance in high-risk environments. Meeting these expectations requires robust technology, strong partnerships and a clear understanding of customer value. As Paul explains, this involves ensuring existing customers remain satisfied and confident, while new customers experience the same level of commitment from the outset.
MacArtney looks forward to working closely with Paul as he assumes the role of Chief Commercial Officer. His initial months will focus on meeting colleagues and customers across global operations, gaining first-hand insight into local markets, whilst setting out the roadmap for continued, sustainable growth.
