PTTEP subsidiary gives deal to joint venture for Kikeh 3B’s second phase

SLB OneSubsea has won a major subsea production system (SPS) contract for PTTEP’s Kikeh 3B project offshore Sabah, East Malaysia.

Kikeh, Malaysia’s maiden deepwater oil and gas project, has been in production since 2007, when the first subsea tree manufactured by SLB OneSubsea in Malaysia was deployed.

SLB OneSubsea’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract is for the second phase of the Kikeh 3B project.

The joint venture — backed by SLB, Aker Solutions and Subsea7 — did not reveal the value of the contract for subsidiary PTTEP Sabah Oil.

As part of the EPC contract, SLB OneSubsea will deliver “comprehensive” SPS equipment including three subsea trees, a manifold, a subsea distribution unit and integrated control systems, along with project management and associated services. Project work will be executed in 2026 and 2027, supported by SLB OneSubsea’s manufacturing and services facilities in Malaysia.

The award marks SLB OneSubsea’s third major SPS contract from PTTEP in the last 12 months.

The joint venture revealed in October that it won a pair of deals for PTTEP’s Alum, Bemban and Permai deepwater gas fields project on Block H, and for Kikeh on Block K.

SLB OneSubsea on Tuesday said it continues to work alongside PTTEP to expand production, at water depths of between 1300 and 1400 metres, while increasing local manufacturing of high-value subsea equipment and systems, strengthening local supply chains, and building expertise and capabilities in the region.
