Repsol ready for next stage of Mexico offshore oil project

Company intends to issue tender for work on FPSO for Block 29 where Polok and Chinwol discoveries are located

Spanish energy giant Repsol has confirmed it will open up a competition between contractors for the floating production, storage and offloading vessel for its Block 29 project in Mexico.

Repsol has an exclusivity agreement in place for the existing FPSO OSX-1, which it aims to redeploy on Block 29 hosting the Polok and Chinwol oil discoveries.

The front-end engineering and design work has been completed by BW Offshore, and Repsol now intends “to launch a new tender for a contract to lease and operate the OSX-1 FPSO”.
