Predator readies Snowcap-3 well for drilling in Trinidad

Predator Oil & Gas awarded NABI Construction a contract to prepare the Snowcap-3 drilling location and production facility area onshore Trinidad, with site work starting immediately. The location will accommodate Star Valley Drilling Rig 205.

The Snowcap-3 drilling program was prepared for regulatory approval. Predator modified the casing strategy and well design to set casing over and protect the primary objective, the Herrera #8 Sand, before entering the secondary objective, the Herrera #1 Sand, which pre-drill forecasts indicate may be overpressured.

The Herrera #8 Sand tested light oil and associated gas in the Snowcap-1 well in 1955, achieving a maximum initial unrestrained flow rate of 1,574 bopd from a six-foot perforated interval; Snowcap-3 targets a significantly thicker interval.

Snowcap-3 will be drilled as a vertical hole to approximately 5,450 ft measured depth and is expected to take around 20 days. An extensive well testing program is planned following evaluation of the wireline logs to determine the well’s optimum stabilized daily oil flow rate.
