Petrobras makes new oil discovery in Morpho well off Amapá

Petrobras reached another oil-bearing interval in the Morpho well (1-BRSA-1405-APS), a new discovery in block FZA-M-59 offshore Amapá, Brazil. The well sits in ultra-deep water at 2,886 m, and the interval was identified through electrical logs, rock indications and fluid samples gathered during operations.

The discovery came as drilling continued to evaluate deeper exploratory intervals after the August 2026 discovery of hydrocarbons in the same well. The Foresea ODN II (NS-42) drillship is drilling Morpho for Petrobras, which operates the block with a 100% interest. Analyses of the August discovery have confirmed good oil quality.

Laboratory analyses of the new interval are under way, and the results will be integrated with the data acquired during drilling. Petrobras will complete drilling at Morpho and then evaluate the formations identified.
