PD&MS has appointed George Akers as Group HSSEQ Director, reinforcing the company’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, security, environment and quality as the business continues to grow, expand internationally and broaden its capabilities.

George will lead the development and delivery of the PD&MS Group HSSEQ strategy, with responsibility for driving continuous improvement across safety and quality performance, governance, operational assurance, environmental performance and risk management throughout the company’s UK and international operations.

The appointment will ensure PD&MS’ HSSEQ framework continues to evolve in line with the company’s growth, expanding capabilities and increasing international footprint.

Commenting on the appointment, Simon Rio, CEO of PD&MS, said:

“Safety has always been fundamental to PD&MS and remains one of the core principles on which we run our business. As our business continues to evolve, our focus must also extend across quality, environmental responsibility, robust governance and effective operational assurance. All of these are fundamental to how we protect our people, deliver for our clients and grow the business responsibly.

“George’s appointment is an important investment in our leadership capability across these areas. He brings significant experience, strong technical knowledge and, importantly, a practical approach to HSSEQ that I believe will fit extremely well with our business and our people.

“Our ambition is not simply to maintain compliance. We want to continually raise the bar across HSSEQ, learn from our experiences and ensure that safety, quality and operational excellence are embedded in how we plan, make decisions and deliver work every day.

“We’re delighted to welcome George to PD&MS and I look forward to working with him as we build on the strong foundations already in place and continue to deliver safe, predictable and high-quality outcomes for our people and our clients.”

George brings decades of experience in senior HSSEQ leadership roles across the energy sector, most recently with Altrad Integrity Services. His experience spans operational safety, quality, assurance and the development of strong HSSEQ cultures within complex energy and industrial environments.

Speaking about joining PD&MS, George said: “PD&MS has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality solutions while maintaining a clear focus on safety and client value. I’m excited to be joining the business at an important point in its development.

“My priority will be to build on the strong foundations already in place and work closely with teams across the business to further develop a positive and proactive HSSEQ culture – one where safety, quality, environmental responsibility and operational discipline are embedded in how we work and owned by everyone across the organisation.

“I’m looking forward to getting out across the business, meeting our people and clients, understanding how we operate and identifying opportunities to continually improve our HSSEQ and operational performance.”

Based in Aberdeen, George will work across PD&MS’ UK and international operations, supporting the delivery of a consistent Group HSSEQ strategy while ensuring appropriate local requirements and regulatory obligations are maintained wherever the company operates.

His appointment demonstrates PD&MS’ continued investment in its leadership capability and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of HSSEQ as the business continues to evolve and grow.
