Oslo-listed semisub player Odfjell Drilling has received a letter of award from Vår Energi for use of one of its rigs.
Vår Energi hired the 2019-built Deepsea Bergen, formerly known as Deepsea Bollsta, for three years, starting in early 2028, following completion of the rig’s current contract.
The firm backlog covered under the deal has an estimated contract value of $518m, including mobilisation fees, but excluding annual escalation, integrated services, performance bonuses, and fuel incentives.
As a result of the letter of award, Deepsea Bergen’s firm contract backlog has been extended until the first quarter of 2031. Odfjell Drilling acquired the rig for $480m, and it is currently working for Equinor. It began operations in mid-2025.
“We are very pleased to have secured a long-term contract award for the Deepsea Bergen less than twelve months after our acquisition of the unit,” said Kjetil Gjersdal, CEO of Odfjell Drilling.
