Kosmos drilling offshore Ghana, Equatorial Guinea

Kosmos Energy has provided an update on its development projects across West Africa.

The drillship Maersk Venturer has finished drilling a new production well at the Jubilee field offshore Ghana, and will now drill a water injector.

Following completion of both wells, production from the field should rise by 15,000-20,000 b/d of oil.

Offshore Equatorial Guinea, the Okume upgrade project is nearing completion. This involves supplying additional power, water injection and gas lift capacity, and more electrical submersible pumps (ESPs).

Last month the second phase of the planned ESP program started along with an upgrade of the G-19 flowline, which has improved production from the well. A newly contracted rig is due to arrive in-country during the current quarter to drill three infill wells.

Off Mauritania/Senegal, Phase 1 of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim LNG project, operated by bp, was around 58% complete by the end of 1Q, with material progress on the FPSO, floating LNG vessel, hub terminal (concrete breakwater) and subsea infrastructure.

Phase 1 should be around 80% complete by year end.

The sale and lease-back of the FPSO sale should complete shortly, with the government approval process currently under way.
