Granite has announced the opening of a new office in Glasgow, marking a significant step in the company’s strategic expansion into the transmission and distribution (T&D) sector and strengthening its presence across Scotland’s evolving power market.
Located at 125 West Regent Street, the new office has been established to bring Granite closer to key customers in the power sector while enhancing its capability to support major infrastructure and grid upgrade projects across the UK.
The expansion is underpinned by the appointment of a number of senior hires who will lead Granite’s specialist recruitment offering in Glasgow, spanning site, commercial, HSEQ and design disciplines.
John Campbell joins as Head of Site Recruitment, bringing extensive sector experience as a qualified engineer. His background includes roles as Site Manager, Senior Authorised Person (SAP) and Engineering Supervisor on major electrification projects. Having worked extensively across the Highlands, John also brings valuable insight into regional communities and workforce dynamics.
Neil Greene has been appointed Head of Commercial Recruitment, with more than 15 years’ experience in the sector. Neil began his career with SSE following his relocation to Scotland in 2002 and has since held roles with organisations including Change, Search, HRC and FPSG, developing deep expertise in commercial and professional recruitment.
Will O’Niell joins as Head of HSEQ Recruitment, bringing over 20 years’ experience across both agency and in-house environments. Trained by SThree, Will has built a strong reputation in highly technical recruitment, with a particular focus on health, safety, environment and quality roles.
Bryan McKirdy takes up the position of Head of T&D Design Recruitment, with more than 24 years’ experience in design engineering recruitment within the energy and power sectors. His career spans both internal and agency roles, including positions with WSP and Amec Foster Wheeler (now part of Worley).
The Glasgow office launch reflects Granite’s ambition to scale its operations in line with the significant investment being made in the UK’s power infrastructure, including transmission upgrades, grid modernisation and renewable energy integration.
Jennifer Campbell, Chief Executive of Granite, said:
“Opening our Glasgow office is a major milestone in Granite’s growth and a clear statement of intent as we scale our presence in the transmission and distribution market. The level of investment being committed to the UK’s grid infrastructure is unprecedented, and we are positioning ourselves to support the delivery of these critical projects at pace.
“Being closer to our customers allows us to build deeper, more meaningful partnerships while responding quickly to their evolving talent needs. Just as importantly, we are investing in a high-calibre team whose experience, networks and technical credibility set us apart in the market.
“Each of these appointments brings real depth of knowledge across their respective disciplines, and together they form a powerful platform for growth in Glasgow. Our ambition is to build a high-performance, scalable business that becomes the recruitment partner of choice for the energy and infrastructure sectors, while creating long-term, meaningful careers for our people.”
