We are delighted to launch our brand-new GEN Member Spotlight series – a dedicated space where we showcase the innovators and industry leaders driving the future of the global energy sector. To kick off the series, we are proud to feature STATS Group, a powerhouse in pipeline engineering that has become synonymous with operational excellence and technical safety. From their Aberdeen headquarters to their expansive international facilities, STATS is not just supporting the industry’s current infrastructure; they are actively engineering the tools for its sustainable future.
STATS Group continues to lead the way in pipeline isolation, hot tapping, and line stopping services, supporting the global energy industry from its headquarters in Aberdeen, Scotland.
With nine operational facilities, the company maintains an extensive international footprint spanning Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Australia.
At the core of its offering is a commitment to solving one of the industry’s most critical challenges: enabling the safe and efficient repair, maintenance, and decommissioning of pipeline infrastructure. STATS DNV type-approved double block and bleed (DBB) isolation tools (Tecno Plug® and BISEP®) allow operators to isolate pipeline sections and safely break containment for maintenance activities, including hot work across onshore, topsides, and subsea environments. This approach minimises downtime, reduces environmental impact, and enhances operational safety.
This year, STATS has set a new benchmark with the development of its patented SureTap® Plug, the first solution to deliver verified DBB isolation during hot tapping completion. By replacing traditional single-seal systems with independently tested dual seals, the technology eliminates a long-standing safety gap and significantly improves operational assurance.
As the energy sector evolves, STATS Group is also playing a key role in the transition to lower-carbon solutions. Its hot tap-installed BISEP line stopping technology is already proven to provide leak-tight isolation in 100% hydrogen and high-pressure liquid CO2 pipelines, positioning the company to support operators as they transition to more sustainable energy systems.
