Gävle approves Vindr Hamrånge wind park

Gävle municipality has approved Vindr’s Energipark Hamrånge wind project in Sweden.

Vindr said the project could include up to 15 wind turbines producing around 365GWh of renewable electricity per year with potential for battery storage.

The company added that the scheme marks a milestone as Gävle currently has no wind power generation.

Development has involved environmental studies, stakeholder dialogue, public meetings and multiple design adjustments over the past two years.

Vindr said it will continue to work closely with the municipality and local community as the project progresses.

The approval follows a lengthy and contested municipal debate over the project.

Opposition councillors raised concerns over environmental impacts and local opposition, while supporters argued the project would bring needed power generation to the region.
