Port of Leith becomes hub for Inch Cape wind farm as Aventus Energy leads major foundation works.
Aventus Energy, a Cromarty Firth based specialist in inspection, repair, and maintenance for the marine energy sector, has secured its largest ever contract to date.
The deal supports foundation completion activities at the 1.1-gigawatt Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, located off the Angus coast.
Work will take place at the Port of Leith in Edinburgh and will involve collaboration with Global group companies Global Port Services and Global Crane Services, as well as port owner Forth Ports.
Ross Thomson, managing director of Aventus Energy, said: “We’re delighted to be delivering this key renewable energy infrastructure project for Inch Cape at the Port of Leith.
“Working with group companies Global Port Services and Global Crane Services, and Forth Ports, our multi disciplinary team is providing the client with a full-service package that will see us carry out surveys upon receipt of the assets, and execution of vital scopes required to ensure their offshore readiness before load out.”
The year long contract involves receiving and inspecting monopiles, transition pieces, and jacket foundations as they arrive at the port.
Aventus will prepare these components for offshore installation through project management, quality and technical verification, and other offshore readiness activities.
The project has involved a combined team of more than 70 personnel, with staff pulled from headquarters in the Highlands as well as employing individuals from within the project catchment area.
Mr Thomson said: “The securing of this major renewable infrastructure project is a key achievement for Aventus Energy and another great opportunity to showcase the capabilities we have within the company but also across the Global group.”
Callum Hogan, asset manager for Forth Projects, said: “It is great to collaborate with Aventus and Global at the Leith Renewables Hub for the Inch Cape project.
“We are playing a pivotal role in the deployment of foundations in Leith now and, later this year in our port in Dundee, the turbines.”
“When you share your news through GEN, you’re not just getting coverage – you’re getting endorsed by the energy sector’s most trusted voice.”
