Cameroon opens 2026 bid round for six blocks
Cameroon has launched its 2026 bid round, offering six exploration blocks across three sedimentary basins. Pierre Eric Nkoa Nkoa, Deputy Exploration Manager at the national oil company Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH), presented the round at the African Farmout Forum during African Energy Week in Cape Town.
SNH is accepting bids until 28 May 2027, with results expected in June 2027.
Blocks on offer
The acreage covers Ndian River and Bakassi in the Rio del Rey Basin, Kombe-Nsepe and Bomono in the Douala/Kribi-Campo Basin, and Zina and Makary in the Logone Birni Basin. All six blocks have 2D seismic coverage.
Overlap with Cameroon’s 2025-26 round
Cameroon’s previous round offered nine blocks across two basins, with proposals due on 30 March 2026, according to World Oil. Ndian River, Bakassi and Bomono were also on that list, along with a block World Oil spells Nkombe Nsepe.
Other opportunities at African Energy Week
The forum, organised by Moyes & Co, Farmout Angel & Envoi Ltd, hosted 23 farmout presentations. Gabon’s DGH presented 26 available blocks, Angola’s ANPG highlighted Blocks 36 and 37 in its current bid round, and Sonidep presented 15 blocks in Niger.
Offshore Somalia, SOMA Oil & Gas is seeking co-funding for 3D seismic across PSAs 129, 130 and 192. In Ghana, GeoPartners outlined a basin-scale farmout covering about 11,700 square kilometres, and in Namibia, Oregen Energy outlined a farmout process for Orange Basin Block 2712A.
Separately, Liberia is presenting its 2026 offshore round at the week, a 29-block grid of which 14 blocks are open, under direct negotiation rather than competitive bidding.
Joint Oil’s Tunisia-Libya offshore bid round closes on 31 December 2026.
