Chevron confirmed an oil and gas condensate discovery at the 105-4X exploration well in Block 0, offshore Angola, through its subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil (CABGOC), on 17 August 2026.
The well, drilled in the Lower Congo Basin, encountered an oil and gas condensate column of more than 600 m in the primary Pinda reservoir, with more than 90 m of net pay in high-quality reservoir rock.
Chevron said the discovery will be assessed for potential development as a tie-back to existing facilities nearby. Block 0 is operated by CABGOC, which holds a 39.2% working interest, and is co-owned by Sonangol E&P (41%), TotalEnergies (10%) and Azule Energy (9.8%).
The discovery builds on Chevron’s broader exploration program in Sub-Saharan Africa, where the company produces around 300,000 boed net. Chevron has added exploration acreage across the region over the past year, including two offshore blocks in Nigeria and additional blocks in Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea, and is continuing exploration activities in Angola’s Blocks 49 and 50, Block 33 and Block 14/23.
