Global Energy Network - GEN

About GEN

Global Energy Network is a media, intelligence and community platform for the global energy sector. We run a leading energy news website, a monthly print and digital magazine, a weekly intelligence service, a corporate membership community and an international events programme. Our offices are in Aberdeen, Stavanger and Perth, Western Australia.

We started with a simple idea: the energy sector deserved a platform that was genuinely open. No paywalls, no subscription barriers, no gated content. Six million energy professionals visit our website every year. They read the same news, the same intelligence and the same industry analysis regardless of whether they are paying customers or not. That open access model is what sets GEN apart and it is not something we intend to change.

What we do

Our news platform covers the global energy supply chain every day, from the North Sea to the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, the Middle East, Norway and Australia. Our editorial team publishes across every major basin and every major sector within the industry, including drilling, subsea, renewables, decommissioning, logistics and energy transition.

GEN Global Magazine is our monthly print and digital publication, distributed at the world’s leading energy events including Offshore Europe, Subsea Expo, ADIPEC, OTC, WAES and AEW. It reaches more than 30,000 digital readers every month alongside its print run.

GEN Intel is our weekly intelligence service, covering drilling activity, vessel utilisation, M&A, tenders, supply chain conditions and our GENI Index, a monthly composite score of global energy market health. GEN Intel is available to all Network members.

The Network is our corporate membership for energy sector companies. For £540 a year, member companies get access to GEN Intel, unlimited press release distribution, a company profile in the GEN member directory, discounted event space at global exhibitions, podcast and video interview opportunities and priority access to GEN networking events. More than 250 companies are currently members.

Taproom Talks and Amplify are our two podcast series, covering career stories from people across the energy industry and spotlights on the companies shaping the sector. Together they reach more than 80,000 professionals per campaign across YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Wider-African-Energy-Summit-2026-WAES2026

The Wider African Energy Summit

Africa sits at the centre of one of the most significant chapters in global energy. The continent holds vast hydrocarbon reserves, rapidly growing domestic energy demand and an increasingly active investment environment. GEN has been building its presence and relationships across Africa for several years and the Wider African Energy Summit is the clearest expression of that commitment.

WAES takes place each December in London. It brings together African energy ministers, national oil company leaders, international operators, financiers, supply chain companies and advisers for two days of focused commercial discussion. The summit is guided by a stewardship council of senior African energy figures who shape the agenda and ensure the conversations reflect what the continent actually needs rather than what the outside world assumes it needs.

Our African operations are led by Kwasi Senya, Director of African Operations, who brings deep relationships across West, East and Central Africa and a track record of building meaningful commercial connections between African energy organisations and the global supply chain. GEN’s African partnerships span national energy bodies, regional clusters, operator groups and independent energy companies across the continent.
