ABERDEEN, 29 October 2026 – International drilling and well-management consultancy Novodrill has completed the acquisition of AFE Ltd, the Aberdeen-based energy engineering and project management firm. Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
The acquisition reunites Novodrill with AFE’s core team, whose members previously worked at Novodrill. Since 2009, Novodrill has engineered and delivered more than 55 wells for operators worldwide, including two world-record water-depth wells delivered with members of the returning AFE team.
AFE brings complementary expertise in drilling project management, drilling engineering, independent well examination, competency assurance, decommissioning, training and mentoring.
The combined business will support operators throughout the well lifecycle, from front-end engineering and planning through to well execution, independent well examination and decommissioning. Existing AFE clients will continue working with their established contacts while benefiting from Novodrill’s broader resources, proven track record, international experience and expanded technical capabilities.
Following the acquisition, AFE Ltd will become Novodrill UK Ltd, retaining its base in Aberdeen and strengthening Novodrill’s presence in the UK and wider European market.
