ABERDEEN, Scotland. Paratus Commercial Services Limited, an Aberdeen-based commercial training, diagnostics and advisory firm, recently achieved full accreditation of its Commercial and Contracts Awareness Workshop to ECITB Training Standard TS PC02-02, an internationally recognised standard for commercial and contractual risk training.
The accreditation, awarded by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB), provides formally recognised continuing professional development (CPD) for engineers, project managers, technical specialists and operational staff across the engineering construction sector, giving individuals and employers independent assurance that the learning meets a nationally recognised standard. For organisations that pay the ECITB statutory levy, a per-delegate financial contribution can now be drawn down against the cost of attendance, improving the return on investment for qualifying businesses.
Accreditation does not narrow who the workshop is for. It remains as relevant to a sole trader agreeing their first significant contract as it does to a multinational’s commercial function. In fact, any business, in any sector, whose people deal with customers or suppliers, or support those who do. More than 150 delegates have attended to date, drawn from engineering, procurement, project delivery and operational roles across energy, construction, manufacturing and beyond.
“This accreditation reflects three decades of hands-on commercial and contractual experience distilled into a single workshop,” said Steve Johnson, Founder Director of Paratus Commercial Services. “It isn’t designed to turn engineers into contract lawyers. It’s designed to help people who are already good at their jobs ask the right commercial questions at the right time, whatever their job title.”
The workshop is delivered publicly at regional venues, but is also available in-house, at a venue of the client’s choosing, anywhere in the world, and can be tailored to a client’s own contracts and scenarios to maximise relevance. Paratus also offers a Negotiation workshop, Negotiating Value Across Supply Chains, alongside commercial health checks, tendering and lessons learned facilitation, and interim and fractional commercial support.
