Onboard Tracker™, the leading crew management software for the energy, renewables and marine sectors, has launched its new Timewriting module designed to help organisations simplify workforce time capture.
Traditional systems ask users to complete a timesheet from scratch. Timewriting within Onboard Tracker gives users a head start by creating a pre-populated timesheet based on scheduled movements, jobs and assignments. Users simply review, amend and submit, helping remove friction for individuals while improving accuracy for approvers, payroll and finance teams.
Many organisations still manage complex working patterns through paper timesheets, Excel spreadsheets, email confirmations, verbal approvals or comments recorded in separate systems, often creating duplication, delayed approvals, payroll corrections, invoice queries as well as limited visibility of workforce costs.
The Timewriting module has been built to simplify this process. Users can access the module from any device on or offshore, allowing time to be recorded in real time and submitted through a fully digital auditable approval process.
The Timewriting module was developed in response to client feedback, gathered through OnboardXchange, Onboard Tracker’s annual superuser forum. Timewriting has been the most requested feature with users highlighting the need for integrated functionality to ease the admin burden.
Designed for mobile workforces whose working patterns often change in real time, Timewriting allows crew, contractors and field-based teams to confirm actual hours worked, amend changes, record overtime and capture time across multiple jobs, sites and clients.
By improving the accuracy and timeliness of workforce cost data, Timewriting also supports better budget control, forecasting and billing confidence.
The addition of Timewriting further strengthens the platform’s ability to manage the entire workforce lifecycle, from planning and mobilisation through to competence, travel, training and now workforce time capture in one clear digital workflow.
Commenting on the development of the Timewriting capability, Tanya Harley, Product Manager at Onboard Tracker said: “Timewriting is a significant addition to the Onboard Tracker platform as it closes the gap between planned workforce movements and the reality of the work carried out onsite.
“By working closely with customers to understand their requirements and day-to-day processes, we developed the Timewriting module to meet those needs.
“The problem with traditional timesheets is that they often start from nothing. For busy mobile teams, that creates unnecessary admin and increases the chance of errors. Timewriting changes that by giving users a pre-populated starting point that they can easily check, amend and submit.”
Aberdeen based Onboard Tracker is the go-to system for global workforce planning, personnel logistics, training and competence management for on and offshore crews.
