Granite has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of experienced recruitment leader Kirsty Shillan as Chief Operating Officer, supporting the company’s continued growth across Scotland’s energy sector.
The appointment follows a period of significant expansion for Granite, with its recently opened Glasgow office reaching a double-digit headcount within just four months, the launch of a new graduate recruitment programme and the securing of major contracts supporting transmission and distribution projects across Scotland, the Highlands and Islands.
As part of its continued investment in future talent, Granite will welcome five graduate recruiters to its Glasgow office in August. The programme has been created to develop the next generation of recruitment professionals while supporting increasing demand across the UK’s rapidly expanding energy infrastructure sector.
Kirsty joins Granite with almost 17 years’ experience at global STEM recruitment specialist SThree, where she progressed through a number of senior leadership positions, most recently serving as Head of Customer Success. Throughout her career she has led customer-focused growth initiatives, developed high-performing teams and built long-term strategic partnerships across the energy sector.
Her appointment further strengthens Granite’s leadership team as the business continues to invest across both its Glasgow and Aberdeen operations. While Glasgow has become the hub for Granite’s growing transmission and distribution offering, Aberdeen continues to service the Oil & Gas sector supporting 25 clients so far this year.
Jennifer Campbell, Chief Executive of Granite, said:
“I’m delighted to welcome Kirsty to Granite as our new Chief Operating Officer. Having worked together for more than a decade, I know first-hand the strength of her leadership and the value she brings to both our people and our customers.
“Her appointment comes at an exciting point in Granite’s journey. In just four months, our Glasgow office has grown to a double-digit team, we’ve secured significant new work supporting Scotland’s transmission and distribution sector, and we’re launching our first graduate programme as we continue to invest in the future of the business.
“At the same time, we’re continuing to strengthen our Aberdeen operation, expanding both our traditional trades and professional recruitment offering while building on the relationships and reputation we’ve established across the energy industry over the past 20 years.
“Granite has always been built on technical expertise, trusted partnerships and exceptional people. Kirsty’s appointment further strengthens our leadership team and gives us an even stronger platform as we continue to grow, support our clients across the full energy lifecycle and create long-term career opportunities for our people.”
Kirsty Shillan, Chief Operating Officer at Granite, added:
“Granite has an excellent reputation in the market and a clear ambition for growth, making this an incredibly exciting time to join the business.
“What attracted me was the opportunity to help shape the next phase of that journey. The business has already built significant momentum in Glasgow while remaining firmly rooted in Aberdeen, and there is a genuine commitment to investing in people, developing talent and delivering an exceptional experience for customers.
“I’m looking forward to working alongside Jennifer and the wider team as we continue to build on that momentum, support our clients and create opportunities for both experienced recruiters and those beginning their careers in the industry.”
“Join the companies that smart energy professionals follow – because when you’re featured on GEN, the industry pays attention.”
