Investigation underway after Sunday’s fatal crash
An investigation is underway after a helicopter belonging to Saudi Aramco crashed, killing all 14 people onboard.
The accident occurred at around 06:00 local time (03:00 GMT) on Sunday in Ras Tanura, on Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast. All those who died were Saudi nationals, according to state media, which added that the cause of the accident remains unknown.
Ras Tanura on Saudi Arabia’s eastern Gulf coast is one of the country’s most important oil industry hubs, hosting major Aramco facilities including a refinery and export terminal.
Aramco only last Friday had resumed crude oil loadings from its Ras Tanura terminal after an almost four-month hiatus because of the Middle East conflict.
“The relevant authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the cause of the crash,” the state news agency added.
