JK Lifting upgrades inspection management infrastructure as offshore renewable demand grows

The Newcastle-based lifting and inspection specialist has moved to CheckedOK, CoreRFID’s inspection management platform, replacing a previous system that had reached the limits of its functionality and support. The switch gives JK Lifting the compliance infrastructure to handle increasing volumes of work across proof load testing, vessel mobilisation and site rigging as North East offshore renewable investment accelerates.

JK Lifting, the North East lifting and inspection specialist, has adopted CheckedOK as its inspection management platform, replacing a previous system that had become a constraint on the business rather than an enabler of it.

JK Lifting operates across the full range of lifting disciplines: proof load testing and inspection, site rigging, vessel mobilisation, bespoke equipment design and manufacture. The previous platform’s functionality required workarounds rather than delivering them natively; support response was slow; and the cost model charged additional fees whenever the system needed to do something new. As demand grew, the limitations became harder to absorb.

CheckedOK was selected following a review of available platforms. The decision was driven by the breadth of the system’s capability, the responsiveness of CoreRFID’s team to client-specific requirements, and a subscription model that includes all onboarding and platform updates without additional charge.

“We chose CoreRFID because they offered a much simpler, more streamlined process compared to other options, alongside a clear willingness to work closely with a business like ours,” says Scott Brown, Technical Sales at JK Lifting. “From the outset, they were highly receptive to making changes, resolving issues quickly, and adapting the system to suit our specific requirements.”

The operational change most immediately felt has been on post-site administration. Under the previous system, engineers returned from site with a second round of documentation to complete before anything was closed off, creating a gap between job completion and certificate delivery to the client. Under CheckedOK, inspection data is captured live on site; certificates are available to clients immediately on completion.

“The software has significantly reduced costs by removing the need for follow-up admin once reports are completed,” says Scott. “Engineers input data live on site, meaning certificates are instantly available to customers.”

The platform’s range has also opened commercial ground that was previously inaccessible. Clients with rigorous audit requirements need to see the systems a lifting contractor is running before awarding work. CheckedOK’s compliance infrastructure has enabled JK Lifting to pursue and win contracts that would have been out of reach on its previous platform.

“It gave us confidence that the platform could support the scale and complexity of our operations, both now and as the business continues to grow,” says Scott.
