Six companies apply for North Sea CO2 storage acreage

 

Norway’s Ministry of Energy received applications from six companies in connection with the country’s June 6 launch of North Sea acreage for potential CO2 storage on the Norwegian shelf.

Norway’s Ministry of Energy received applications from six companies in connection with the country’s June 6 launch of North Sea acreage for potential CO2 storage on the Norwegian shelf.

Exploration licenses are expected to be awarded in this year’s second half following application processing, the ministry said.

As of the Aug. 29 deadline for the three North Sea areas, applications were received from Aker BP ASA, Equinor Low Carbon Solutions AS, Harbour Energy Norge AS, Horisont Energi AS, Storegga Norge AS, and TotalEnergies EP Norge AS.
